Race Report: Treviso Marathon

03. marec 2013

From snowy Ljubljana we have driven to sunny and quite warm Treviso where we raced on first marathon this year. Our members did not have exceptional results as this was their second skate of the year, but race was still very exciting and hard. Peter Korez finished on 62th place, Crt Lukancic Mori on 67th place and Igor Erceg on 94th place overall from more than 100 competitors.

The main bunch started slowly but with steady pace which after 4 km was too hard for Igor Erceg who skated the remainder of race in groups with competitors who raced half-marathon distance. After that 4km bunch had some attacks which Peter and Crt managed to cover and maintain in main bunch but after 13km first small attack distanced Crt and soon after a bigger attack distanced Peter from main bunch. Crt soon caught a group that was also distanced by main bunch and even tried with long solo attack for over 4km to capture group with Peter, but Peter´s group grew in numbers as more and more people dropped from main bunch. That enabled them to keep a hard pace which Crt was unable to bridge and they skated to finish in separate groups. Peter finished the marathon distance with time 1:24.40, Črt with 1:26.11 and Igor with 1:41.21 .
